Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year!

On behalf of the Annville Elementary faculty and staff I would like to welcome everyone back for the 2016-2017 school year.  A special welcome to our new students and their families!  I'm confident you will find our school to be a welcoming, supportive and collaborative educational environment for your child(ren).

Over the summer our building has undergone some small physical improvements.  New carpet has been installed in our large group instruction room while tile and stair treads have been added to our stairwells to improve safety for everyone.  Our custodial staff has done an excellent job of preparing the building for the return of our students and the teachers have been busy creating welcoming environments within their classrooms.

Academically, we continue to review and improve our instructional approaches and resources for students while also working to reach out to parents and the community with STEM and career related information and activities.  We were proud to host a fantastic STEM Night last year, which allowed our students to obtain hands-on experiences with STEM related careers, presented by local businesses.  Also, our 5th and 6th grade students took trips to LVC and the Lebanon County CTC to explore various future career avenues. Plans are underway to increase these opportunities for school/family connections by hosting our first Little Dutchman Parent Program. During this program we’ll offer a brief information session for parents followed by an opportunity for you to spend some time in the classroom taking part in the type of learning your child participates in on a day to day basis. We’re working hard to improve our partnerships with you and we look forward to inviting you to be a part of this upcoming event with your child.  More information will be forthcoming.

This coming year we will be implementing a workshop approach to math instruction, which will allow us to provide additional support to students who may need remediation and also independent work and enrichment to students who have concretely grasped concepts and application. This flexible approach takes into account the varying needs of our learners and encourages students to think and work more deeply with mathematics.

We want to welcome our new school counselor, Mrs. Lindsey Longo, as well as our new sixth grade teacher, Mrs. Tammy Boltz. As you make your way into the building this school year for various events please introduce yourselves to these great additions to our staff.

As a reminder, ID is required for CAR RIDER pick-up as well as a note indicating the change of transportation for your child.  In the note please identify the name of the individual who will be picking up your child.  These students will need to be met at the northeast exit door of the building.

In order for your child to receive the best possible educational experience, the child, parent(s) and school must all be pulling in the same direction.  We look forward to working with you in this capacity in order to make your child's time at Annville Elementary a strong foundation to build upon for the future!

Have a wonderful school year!
