Collaborating Today for a Successful Tomorrow
Welcome to Cleona Elementary School!
Welcome to all our families. For some of our families this is your first experience in the Annville-Cleona School District. I encourage all of you to get involved with your children’s education. You can make a big difference in your student’s success. Preparing them each morning to come to school ready to learn, will set the stage for learning. Together we can help your child have a great school year.
This year there are a few new faces around Cleona Elementary School. Mrs. Jamie Carrodo is new to ACSD and she is teaching 1st grade. She comes to us from Allentown. Miss Bui is from Connecticut and she is teaching 2nd grade. We welcome Mrs. Lindsay and Mrs. Sprecher as instructional aides. Mrs. Light is our new Cleona Secretary and Mrs. Raynes is our Health Room Aide. We are excited to welcome these staff members.
We continue to refine instructional delivery with our reading and mathematics curriculums. Both curriculums are aligned to state standards and provide an opportunity for all students to be successful. Your child’s growth is very important to the staff at Cleona Elementary School. Progress is closely monitored through a variety of assessments.
This school year the staff at Cleona will launch The Dutchman Way- a School Wide Positive Behavior Support program. This program supports the success of ALL students through the teaching of appropriate behavioral expectations and providing positive reinforcements. Students will continue to be recognized during our monthly PAT assemblies but the plan also provides for more positive reinforcement throughout the day. A brochure with more details is posted on the Cleona Elementary Webpage under About Us.
RtII is another program the staff has been busy refining. RtII stands for Response to Intervention and Instruction. It is a program to help identify and help all students who are struggling. Students receive 30 minutes of enrichment or intervention time 4 times a week. We call this intervention time- WIN Time. WIN stands for What I Need. You can find more information about RtII on our website by clicking on the curriculum tab.
ACSD is concerned about the safety and security of all the students and staff. During the summer, the office traffic flow was updated to improve security at the building. All visitors are directed into the office area where Mrs. Light will greet you. Outside security cameras will be added soon.
The staff at Cleona Elementary School looks forward to seeing all our families. Please remember if you have any questions, contact the office or your child’s teacher. We want to be sure you have accurate information. Working together we can make this a successful school year for all.
