  • What are the plans for Commencement?

    Posted by:
      1. We are able to offer Friday, May 29 from 12pm-3pm and Saturday, May 30 from 8am-3pm for students to sign up for 5-minute time slot increments. After the senior signs up for a 5-minute time slot, here is what they need to be prepared for on that date and time. The senior and up to four (4) additional family/friends will drive up to the bus entrance of the Secondary School. When the vehicle pulls into the bus loop, the senior will be able to pick up his/her diploma cover (the actual diploma will be mailed to the seniors). The vehicle will then be directed to pull up to the bus entrance doors where the senior and his/her family/friends will exit the vehicle. The senior will stand in front of an A-C backdrop in his/her cap and gown holding his/her diploma cover to have his/her picture taken. The family/friends will then join the senior in having their group picture taken. The family/friends will then step away from the senior so the videographer can record the senior turning his/her tassel and then tossing his/her cap into the air. After this concludes, the senior and his/her family/friends will return to their vehicle and exit the campus.
      2. Since we recognize that this is such a monumental occasion in not only the senior’s lives, but also in the lives of their family and friends who have supported them throughout this process, we are also looking to have an abbreviated ceremony either in the stadium or auditorium if social distancing guidelines are lifted before August 1 along with an informal picnic. A decision will be made in early July so families can plan ahead. This is also dependent upon an R.S.V.P. closer to the event to ensure attendance can be accommodated and that it still warrants having an event.
      3. If social distancing guidelines are not lifted before August 1, an abbreviated ceremony in the auditorium followed by hors d'oeuvres in the cafeteria during the senior’s winter break will be offered so the seniors have something to look forward to. This is again dependent upon an R.S.V.P. closer to the event to ensure attendance can be accommodated and that it still warrants having an event.
